Synopsis
The summer of 1995 was one of the hottest ever witnessed in New Delhi and not just because of the gruesome Tandoor murder case that became dinner time discussion in most households in the capital. India’s newly liberal economy, cable TV channels and new showrooms were changing life as we knew defined the decade in the days before the men of Delhi became easy epithets for “toxic masculinity”, unsafe streets and rape culture, we follow the stories of a father & son living parallel lives of delusion, a small-time journalist eager to get his turn on a frustrating waiting list to buy a Bajaj scooter, and a traumatized survivor of a gang beating who wants to teach men how not to become brand-workshipping dandies, as they struggle to find their place within an India that doesn’t seem to account for their various “masculinities”. Inspired by the writings of Chuck Palahniuk, Uday Prakash and the author’s personal stories.
